2016 Prize Shortlist

The following 55 projects and scientists from 21 countries made it through to the final judging process. This year we were particularly pleased to see an increase in nominations from Asia.

Each category normally awards one (or possibly two) projects; with the Young Researcher Award funding up to five scientists. This year, in order to support more young scientists in parts of the world where animal-free science is not so well accepted, we have three Young Researcher Awards, each providing up to five selected scientists with £10,000 to further their career in non-animal testing:

  • Young Researcher Asia
  • Young Researcher Americas
  • Young Researcher Rest of the World

The shortlisted projects go through to the next round of judging in September. Although winners will be informed shortly afterwards, details are not made public until the Awards Ceremony in November.

The Lush Prize only funds complete replacement of animal testing. Nominees are asked to declare any recent involvement in animal testing or use of animal products such as Foetal Calf Serum, animal cells etc.

Winning projects are at the discretion of the judges and are required to ensure that funding is used only for the purpose of complete replacement of animals and animal products.
